Just like the fruit in the Garden of Eden that Adam and Eve ate that no one can tell me exactly what it was…I’m strange fruit! Some religious people call the fruit an apple, some a kumquat, some will argue about the type of fruit that was available in those days, like they were chilling in the Garden too. I never saw that or dinosaurs as a necessity to figure out my salvation; some things I have just learned to take on faith. Now back to why I believe that I am strange fruit. I believe that I am strange fruit because I have some of the craziest thoughts. For instance, one day I was stuck in traffic on the H2 in Hawaii on my way to work and a “what if” thought popped into my head. What if our lives was like the old record players with the needle and the arm. Young folks might not know what that is and to that I say Google it. They were great, I played the Commodores until Lionel Richie would say…”I maybe just a foolish, just a foolish, just foolish” (add a quarter on top of the needle) and only then would he say “dreamer, but I don’t care.” Now think of life as the record and you as the needle. There will be days when you wish you could just pick the needle (you) up and start over. There will be days when you have to add a little extra, like the quarter, to just make it through you day. Then there will be other times where the repeat play or skipping, as it is called, will be what you want to happen because you want to stay in that moment. But whatever situation you find yourself in you have to believe that you can get through it and see it to the end. A pastor once told me that if it is not fatal then it’s not final. So to you I say keeping pressing towards your goals and dreams. No hand is going to come and place your needle in a different spot on the record of life; you have to work it yourself. Therefore keep living and keep moving…and be blessed! |
